Water-cooled Fujitsu LifeBook laptop

Fujitsu is showing off its brand new LifeBook FMW-BIBLO NW laptop with a secondary 4 inch touchscreen display above the keyboard and a water-cooling system.

It becomes available on December 26th, and the laptop features a 16-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1,366×768 with a 2.40GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2GB of memory, 320GB of HDD, an Intel GM45 Express Chipset, a Blu-ray drive, digital TV tuner, four USB ports, WiFi b/g/n, and HDMI output. RadioShack officially announces subsidized Acer One netbook

Netbooks are selling in huge numbers this holiday season. Leading the netbook pack in sales is the Acer Aspire One netbook. Most netbooks are created pretty much equal today, but the One provides a good mix of portability and price.

Earlier this week I reported on the leaked sales flyer that claimed RadioShack would be selling an AT&T 3G equipped version of the One for $99 with a 2-year agreement for mobile broadband service. RadioShack has officially announced the $99 deal and confirmed the story just as we ran it on the 9th.

Gigabyte M528 MID is cool and very portable

I like netbooks, I happen to think that the tradeoff of screen size and some power for portability is well worth it for the way I use a notebook. That said I think going below an 8-inch or 9-inch screen size is too much of a compromise, but some folks want even more portability in their web access device.

The MID walks the line between a netbook and smartphones like the iPhone and Gigabyte has an interesting new MID called the M528. The M528 was seen back in June, but Gigabyte has updated the specs. Running on Linux the device has a 4.8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 800×480 that is touch sensitive.

Dell XPS Baton PC concept

This is a concept we’d really like to see realized. It looks amazing. The basic idea is that a baton contains two roll out and flexible screens. The OLED screens roll up in the baton for easy transport. When they are pulled out an electrical charge is sent down the screen, making them rigid and usable as a laptop screen and keyboard that we all know so well.

Just want to use an eBook? Then just roll out one screen. If you want to work from a desk you can just leave the screens rolled up and dock the baton on a docking station which attaches to a regular screen and keyboard.

Lenovo notebooks shutdown via text message

Last year when I was going to CES, I almost lost my laptop. The person working the x-ray machine removed it from my bag when I forgot too, but then didn’t tell me they had done it. I got all the way to my gate and realized it was gone. I was able to get it, but hundreds of thousands of notebooks each year aren’t retrieved when lost at airports.

If you have important data on your computer that you don’t want falling into the wrong hands, or simply don’t want some airport worker using your computer, Lenovo has a new service for you. The service is called Lenovo Constant Secure Remote Disable Feature and allows certain notebooks to be shutdown over a WWAN connection.

Even so, a new notebook every three years for the price of the warranty? Kind of life joining the notebook of the month club, except in this case it’s every three years. There’s got to be catch. Anyway, life is no fun unless you are free to mod, use cheap substandard parts, rip that tag off the mattress that tells you not to rip it and switch computer brands now and then.

Dell’s Inspiron Mini 12 is now available in the US as of today. The sleek notebook will aim for it’s market share against the Asus Eee PC S101, in a two notebook’s enter one notebook leaves kind of Thunderdome fight. Both feature 12″ screens and have that same sleek look. You can choose from two versions: A $549 model powered by an Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor, with 1GB RAM, a 40GB hard drive and Windows Vista Home Basic. Hewlett-Packard (HP), the world's largest computer company, has developed a new generation of laptops with a 24-hour battery life.

Its new HP EliteBook 6930p can be configured with an ultra-capacity battery to deliver "all-day computing".

The firm says the 24-hour battery means travellers can take more than 10 trips on the Eurostar between London and Paris before recharging their laptop.

HP said it was an "unprecedented milestone in mobile computing".

Gateway unveils MC7801u notebook

New notebooks are being introduced by the dozen this time of year. This year we are seeing some new types of systems hit the market with netbooks being very popular. Gateway is also introducing a notebook with a different size LCD than we are used to seeing.

The new Gateway MC-Series has a 16-inch edge-to-edge seamless glass display. The aspect ratio for the screen is 16:9 and it has a screen resolution of 1366×768. Other features of the notebook include Illuminated Multimedia Touch Controls.

MSI to launch 3.5G Wind netbook next month

The U120 will hit store shelves in November at $552 in both white and black. Some features include an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB memory and a 120GB hard drive loaded with Windows XP, plus a built-in 3.5G module. We’re not sure yet if the November date is worldwide or Asia only.

Fujitsu LifeBook A1110 laptop has interchangable lid

And thank god, cuz that one is fugly. Makes me queasy just looking at it. Fujitsu recently intro’d the new LifeBook A1110 15.4-inch consumer- oriented notebook with a swappable lid. That way you can show your style with a green mod labyrinth, bright pink with butterflies, or a cool blue Victorian print. The green mod labyrinth pis making me dizzy.

Fujitsu’s LifeBook A1110 is powered by an Intel Centrino 2 and comes with the Core 2 Duo P7350 or T5800 processor, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner. Some other features are a 1.3MP webcam, 802.11n wireless module, Ethernet LAN port, 56K modem, Bluetooth, three USB ports, ExpressCard and SD Card slots, and a VGA output. Toshiba’s $4k Qosmio X305-Q708 gaming laptop

Toshiba is laying the smack down on Alienware, revamping its flame emblazoned Qosmio X305 by introducing the Qosmio X305-Q708, which features a Core 2 Extreme QX9300 CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 128GB SSD, 320GB 7,200 RPM SATA drive, dual-layer DVD writer, twin NVIDIA 512MB GeForce 9800M GTS graphics cards, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and Windows Vista Ultimate. It’s also got a full-sized keyboard with a ten-key number pad, four Harman Kardon speakers, HDMI / DisplayPort connectors, 1.3-megapixel webcam, Wireless USB / USB Sleep-and-Charge technologies and a 17-inch TruBrite LCD (Unknown resolution).

It should be available by the time you read this for around $4,199.99. But if I were you I’d pay extra to get rid of the whole fire motif. With those specs, it’s a damn shame Toshiba is so set on making you look like a flaming dork.
