The non functioning prototype features a rear facing 3.2 megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom and a flash, a front-facing webcam, and it measures about 6.3 x 3.3 x 1.3-inches with a 4.5 or 5-inch screen. The processor, as well as OS and storage capacity are unknown. So there’s still some mystery here. We have no idea if it’s on track for release or just a prototype. We may learn more at CES.

TiVo says the new mobile site at m.tivo.com will allow users, subscribers or not, to browse television listings and search for shows. The online app will also will recommend other television shows based on what you are viewing. The site is available to anyone that has access to the internet through a mobile browser, and no installation on the mobile device is necessary.
It will cost you $150 to dress up your current T-Mobile handset in technicolor, or the company will ship you a brand new one $725. The BlackBerry Bold will cost $139 and $674 for the makeover. The price is steep sure, but with rave colors like this, you can’t afford not to have your handset match your pacifier and fancy light-sticks.
The BlackBerry Storm is going for $199.99 with a two year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate and will come bundled with an external 8GB microSD card to make sure you can save all that media you’ll be downloading from the high speed connection.
BlackBerry has announced that its first flip phone is now available exclusively at T-Mobile. The phone is called the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. The handset offers the features BlackBerry users are familiar with including RIM’s email solution, text, and picture messaging.

The BlackBerry Bold 9000 is perhaps on the most anticipated BlackBerry devices in the market. It will be available come Q4 of 2008 exclusively with AT&T.

This is one of those proof of concepts from RIM. I can almost hear the engineers say “OK we’ve come up with several of these BlackBerries for 2008 and we need to leave the year with a bang — so here it is - more of the same with slight tweaks here and there - how BOLD, how BEAUTIFUL!.”
This is how you make phones! Let’s not stray away from over the top designs and weird features. Sticking to what works, with a touch of elegance is by itself, Bold.
The new BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 was unveiled recently. Other than being the first BlackBerry to sport a clamshell design, the new 8220 Flip still pretty much has the same features of previous Pearl models including the SureType QWERTY hybrid. This move was, in my opinion, an aesthetic preserver as the new Flip phone would look fugly if it were wider (full QWERTY). The 8220 comes with a 2.0MP camera and connectivity options has included WiFi onto the roster, so it does make a better impression on the original BlackBerry Pearl.
Why a flip design? More importantly, why only now? Because they can.

Even if it didn’t have GPS, this would still be a slick device. What it basically is — Palm’s way of catching up with the current market of handhelds out there. There isn’t anything spectacular or innovative. Everything is standard. WHat this also shows is Palm abandoning their own OS for Windows Mobile to tap into the corporate market.
* In a related note for Asian distributors of Palm, I was talking to some folks who were responsible for the glory days of Palm back in 2004. Turns out that the Palm Centro isn’t being prioritized in developing countries which is really a sad sad thing as this is Palm’s most affordable device ever. *shrug*

Yet I remain convinced that for all of Apple’s innovation - especially on the mobile browsing front and major improvements in usability - the iPhone in its current incarnation will have significant but limited appeal. There’s only one iPhone, and in the smartphone market, one size doesn’t fit all.
So it’s somewhat good news that the Palm Centro has reportedly passed the two million mark. That’s less than a year after the smartphone came out last October, and is comparatively good compared to the diminishing sales of the Treo line. But, is this a real sign of recovery?
On one hand, sales are apparently picking up. Yet on the other, you’ve got a smartphone market growing leads and bounds, while Palm posts only modest gains. This means all those new transactions are coming from somewhere else: Palm’s competitors. What do you think?
