Micro-trains run on time in this pocket-watch

Micro-trains run on time in this pocket-watchTwo tiny trains circle around this clock perched atop a mountain. This watch could easily cross the line into cheesiness, yet somehow it’s more cool then cheesy. The watch is made by Mr. Christmas, a company that actually has some cool Christmas gadgets.

The small trains move around the clock when you wind up the stem. Even plays the song “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad.” Okay, that part is cheesy. For $19.47, what the heck. Get into the Christmas spirit you grumps. These are two mini trains on a watch for god’s sake. That fit in your pocket.

Digital Clock powered by lemons

Digital Clock powered by lemonsHere’s a clock for those who have no clock and a spare lemon tree in the backyard. The tree will come in handy since this clock is powered by the energy of a lemon, which will power it for a week or longer. The design is intended to remind us that nature is still our direct energy source.

When life hands you lemons and a lemon powered clock, most people would just make lemonade and get the time from the microwave. But some of us will put lemons on our clock, and through the sour sucking power of citrus, attract fruit flies until we give up this novelty clock design.

According to Zenith this is a ” a major innovation in the world of watchmaking” providing “considerably greater accuracy”. Reducing the effects of gravity was certainly a critical factor in 1795 when the tourbillon was invented and mechanical pocket watches (prone to inaccuracy because of gravity) were all the rage. We’re not 100% sure of its impact on modern watch design, but it undoubtedly bestows a level of prestig

>Say Time Watch Concept That Displays Sentences

Another innovative idea from Tao Ma, “Say Time Watch” is a concept where a watch can give you warm sentences instead of time. You can create words that describe each specific time, change the color and the type of font the way you like it. You can write “it’s 5 pm, time to go home” and set the watch to display it at 5:00 pm. Each sentences can be edited or inserted using usb line connected to a computer. My question is, from the picture you can see that the user setup the sentences for each hour, what about at for e.g. : 5:15pm, what will the watch display for me? is it the same sentences ? I prefer if this watch has the ability to actually display the time, and make the warm sentences display as an optional features.

Superior Watch : Decode to Read The Time

Getting bored with the traditional watch ? Perhaps “Superior”, ultramodern minimalist watch can brighten your day. Superior watch is a conceptual custom made watch to fit its owner arm. This watch tells time by decoding the two rows of flush cut diamonds. The top row is for the hours and the bottom row is for the minuets. To find the hour, multiply all the unlit diamonds that come before the lit one’s by two and then you add that number to the lit ones. Superior is made from tungsten carbide with either a polished finish or a polished titanium carbide coating over the tungsten carbide, that is why it’s called “The Superior”. This watch is impractical to some people, but probably cool watch for geeks.

Technology for The Blind and The Visually Impaired : Sentio Digital Tactile Watch

As they say” beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”, maybe that’s the reason why the inventions designed for the visually challenged, never had that visually appeal. However Matthew Wagerfield’s revolutionary time keeping device which he calls Sentio- seems to carry the sentiments for the ones for whom its been designed. A combination of the old and the new it uses a tactile display, with each segment arises by 1 mm above the watch face thus enabling the users to read the time just by touching the face of the watch. Available in various colors, making it quite fashionable.

Hysek Colosso watch embedded with spinning globe

Hysek Colosso watch embedded with spinning globe

The Hysek Colosso is pretty different. No other watch company has ever put a spinning globe on your wrist. For some reason they thought it was time and just went for it.

They knew they had hit gold too, so they put a $550,000 price tag on it. After all, it’s not just a globe but a “crystal pustule filled with a dimensional earth rotating for local or GMT time,”. No, this thing doesn’t look like a kid’s watch at all. The price is totally justified.

Casio G-Shock G8100A-5 is slightly steampunk

Casio G-Shock G8100A-5 is slightly steampunkThe Casio G-Shock G8100A-5 is a watch with typical modern features, while at the same time sporting a vague ‘antique’ design. Obviously Casio doesn’t want to miss out on the steampunk market. It’s got a bronze colored aluminum face and perforated resin band and a price tag of $99.

Even though this watch is only barely steampunk, it has a bunch of features like, auto dual electroluminescent backlights with ‘afterglow’, world time with 29 time zones and automatic daylight savings adjustments, 2 multi-function alarms, snooze alarm, timer that can countdown 1 minute to 24 hours, stopwatch, and it’s shock and water resistant to 200 meters. Not a bad watch if you want to look only slightly steampunk.

Whizzwatch: Control R2-D2 with your watch

Whizzwatch: Control R2-D2 with your watchThe R2-D2 Whizzwatch while not heavy on style, lets you control a miniature version of R2-D2 with a special wristwatch IR transmitter. R2 is attached to it’s strap. Just unclip the little droid, put him on your desk and watch him go. The watch supposedly has a variety of digital readouts, and you can switch between 12/24 hour displays. It costs about $36. My concern with this watch would be running into some dude with a Jawa watch. If the two should fight, your little droid might end up in a Jawa sandcrawler.

Turntable Watch from Tokidoki is retro cool

Turntable Watch from Tokidoki is retro cool

It doesn’t get more 80’s then this. The Tokidoki company has come up with this nice looking watch that outdoes the turntable watch we told you about many months ago.

It ups the retro pop feel with vibrant colors and a nice 80s style. It makes me feel like cranking some Huey Lewis and the News while messing around on my hoverboard. The vinyl face rotates as each second ticks by. The time is displayed on the left side, looking like a radio dial. Stainless steel with leather strap. My geek mind is convinced that if you wear something this outrageously retro, Doc Brown will show up in his DeLorean. Which is why I’m getting one.

Rogue watch from Tokyoflash

Rogue watch from TokyoflashHere’s Tokyoflash’s newest hard to read and futuristic timepiece for those who love these hard-to-read-watches. With the LCD interface, the time can be read at a glance but it can also be illuminated with sci-fi green LEDs, so that when you touch the button, it resembles a glowing radar screen. It sports a solid stainless steel strap which can be adjusted.

So how do you read this one? The outer ring dots are the minutes, every fifth dot being slightly smaller to distinguish five minutes. The ring of large blocks represents rough minutes, the position of the gap indicating approximate minutes. The inner ring of blocks represents hours, the position of the gap in the ring showing the current hour as on a clock face. It will set you back $154.
